Mark Antony Movie Story

Antony (played by Vishal) and Jackky Marthanda (played by SJ Suryya) are really close friends. Both of them are involved in illegal work and they have a big problem with another criminal named Ekambaram (played by Sunil). One day, Ekambaram kills Antony, who manages to escape from the city.

Jackie is determined to get back to Ekambaram for the murder of his friend Antony. He takes the responsibility of raising Antony’s son Mark and takes care of Mark more than his own son Madan.

Mark Antony is very entertaining when SJ Suryah comes on screen. He has done a wonderful job playing both Jackie Pandian and his son Madan Pandian. The phone conversation between father and son is an extraordinary moment in the film. It is difficult to tell whether the characters were written specifically for Surya or he simply made them his own. His performance is a bit surprising, but still feels real. He portrays a sense of desperation and determination simultaneously. Without Surya, the charm of Mark Antony would be missing. The film could have been as good as Suriya’s performance if the writer had focused more on the script rather than creating moments. The excellence seen in the action sequences and editing by Vijay Velukutty does not reach the screenplay, which feels like an afterthought. The director seems to have built the story around dramatic moments rather than serving the story, which is the wrong approach.
